Valley Feed and Supply

Honoring more than a century of agricultural heritage while building a stronger, more connected brand for the next generation.

Valley Feed & Supply is a historic feed mill and agricultural supply business in Bonner Springs, Kansas, serving the region’s farming and livestock communities for more than a century. What began as a refresh of its proprietary Kawmix Feeds brand evolved into a broader strategic partnership to strengthen the company’s brand and marketing ecosystem. The work included brand strategy, identity development, creative direction, website design, photography, content, social media, SEO, and digital marketing systems, establishing a cohesive relationship between both brands while preserving their distinct identities.

The vision for Valley Feed & Supply was to modernize a century-old brand without compromising the authenticity that made it meaningful to the Kaw Valley community. Discovery revealed a business deeply connected to generations of farmers, livestock producers, and families who relied on the feed mill and supply store as a trusted regional resource. The creative direction centered on preserving that sense of place while creating a flexible identity capable of carrying the company forward.

Valley Feed & Supply website design preview
A key influence came directly from the physical environment. Prior to Wils Design’s engagement, another creative firm had developed exterior signage and building graphics that introduced a distinctive typographic style. Its character felt remarkably appropriate for Valley Feed and, through historical research, closely echoed lettering used on the original Valley Feed Supply buildings in the 1930s. That authentic connection became an integral part of the new identity rather than simply recreating a nostalgic aesthetic.
The mill itself became the defining visual element—a black-and-white architectural line drawing inspired by mid-century business stationery and agricultural commerce. Typography, illustration, and supporting elements were developed into a flexible, kinetic identity system designed to shift across applications while maintaining a recognizable core. The resulting brand balances heritage with contemporary utility, and the identity was carried directly into the website and broader digital experience, creating a consistent platform for the company’s next chapter.
